Caltech engaged BAM on a series of projects to improve campus amenities and create exciting spaces for collaboration. BAM worked closely with Caltech to outline options to modernize the classrooms and support areas, provide flexible facilities to adapt to the changing needs of higher education, and design to attract alumni as well as incoming classes. Beginning with a dated seminar room, our team is designing a space with unique ceiling details that improve acoustics, better seating and technology to support and engage students, and an installation of larger windows to allow for more natural light. The new seminar space will be more inclusive of ADA requirements, allowing students the option to sit where they feel most comfortable in the room. A rooftop seminar space, BAM has proposed comfortable seating across all areas of the roof. The varied rooftop seating takes advantage of the year-round warm weather to provide alternative learning environments for students and faculty to collaborate outdoors and serve as an outdoor classroom.
