Supporting both higher education and Orange County as a hub of bioscience research, University Lab Partners is funding the design and construction of a new biotech incubator adjacent to the UC Irvine campus. With BAM’s background in designing lab facilities on both the east and west coast, our team is serving as a client advocate to University Lab Partners to clarify and advise on the lab build-out. Given the occupants of the space are yet to be determined, BAM has balanced providing adaptability for future tenant needs with the cost to implement that flexibility. BAM coordinated the lab equipment and casework, including detailed room data sheets noting the key design specifics, fume hoods, lab workstations, and finish materials. This information has proved invaluable to University Lab Partners’ understanding of the kinds of lab spaces that will be available and how to market the labs to potential tenants.
